The maltings is a great place to go and browse and purchase lovely gifts at any time of year. They have a fine food hall where you will be sure to find something to get your tastebuds twitching! There is a lovely cafe to rest and enjoy fresh produce and a great cup of tea! (The Master Brewer often can be seen sitting here with a steaming cup and a fancy cake!)

News just in from the Master Brewer…. Two new brews are soon to be available. Dare we mention it but with the harvest almost complete, winter is not far off and from October Snow Plough will be available. Designed to warm the cockles on any winter’s day this aromatic ale will be sure to be a hit. 4.0% perfect company for any fireside chair!

Church Key is destined to be our true local Suffolk ale! The barley for this one is going to be grown at Lodge Farm just round the corner from the brewery. We are going to keep you posted on how the barley is getting on throughout the year. From seed purchase in the next few weeks, to harvest in August of 2011. Then our team are going to follow the barley to the maltings and watch it being turned into malt ready for brewing. Church Key derives its name from those lovely old bottle openers of years gone by. If you didn’t have a bottle opener to get that crown cap off a church key would do! A great 4.5% full flavoured ale!

When it came to designing the labels for our range of beers, there was only one person who we wanted to take on the project. Artist, Mark Burrell has a style which incorporates a rich pallet of colours, together with an attention to detail that at times requires the viewer to take up a magnifying glass, to see the fine detail. We wanted Mark to incorporate into the labels some of the vivid colours and forms that he produces in his stunning art works and he has not disappointed us as you can see. The paintings are just 80mm square, that is just over three inches in old money and are scaled down by fifty percent to produce the required image size for the label. Next time you pour yourself a glass of our beer take a few moments to marvel at the skill that has gone into the picture!

In the past ten to fifteen years Mark has had in excess of one hundred mixed and solo exhibitions. Included in his CV are many London galleries including the Royal Academy of Arts, with exhibitions held in Europe and New York, USA.

Along the way he has had more than his share of television exposure, winning first prize on the television program ‘Moving Art’ hosted by George Melly and Bill Oddie. In this program he was also interviewed by Sister Wendy Beckett about his work. Among his other awards the ‘Lucy Morrison memorial prize’ at the Royal Overseas League. His work has been reproduced in books, catalogues, newspapers, magazines and CD covers. We are very proud he agreed to take on our commissions to provide the images for our labels. The first three to be used are Wishing Well, Gisleham Gold and High Light. Wishing Well derives its name from our own ancient well. Gisleham Gold from the locally sourced barley and High Light from our local name for our lighthouse sitting on the cliff at Lowestoft.

Launched in August 2009 by Graham Hunt, a beer enthusiast for many years, Trinity Ales is one of the smaller micro breweries in the county. Suffolk now has 22 breweries in total.

It derives its name from the local village church, a mere stone’s throw away across barley fields, the Saxon round tower church of Holy Trinity.

Trinity Ales has its very own trinity by combining pure spring water drawn from its own ancient well some 40′ below the ground, locally sourced Suffolk hops, and barley from Priory Farm just six miles down the A12 at Wrentham, home of the Real Ale Shop.

Brewing takes place in a bespoke brew-house which is home to a four-barrel plant. It has the capacity to produce over 1000 pints of real ale a week, which are then bottled and labelled in the adjacent barn.

To ensure Trinity Ales has a really good start we joined the East Anglian Brewers Ltd. It is a co-operative founded in 2002 and made possible by funding from the East of England Development Agency.

With plenty of sunshine and a lower annual rainfall than Jordan the farmers of the Eastern Counties grow some of the best malting barley in the world. With such a wonderful raw ingredient on their door step it is not surprising that brewers in East Anglia are becoming established as some of the finest brewers in Europe.

East Anglian Brewers Ltd. can offer the discerning drinker a wide choice of brewing styles from smooth dark stouts and porters to refreshing lagers or specialised seasonal beers.

By networking with farmers EAB aims to produce beers brewed with local malts and to make the ales available to local communities through farmers’ markets and community shops.

Trinity Ales features at the Peterbough Beer Festival 2010. This year we have sent along three different beers to be enjoyed by the thousands of real ale enthusiasts. We have on offer our firm favourite Gisleham Gold a lovely straw coloured ale with a beautiful lemon flavour. At 4.5% it is sure to go quickly! Wishing Well a double hopped 3.8% ale all the ingredients are Suffolk born and bred and the flavour is quite wonderful. A great little session ale of 3.8%. Lastly but by no means least we have a festival special. Dry Well another good session beer of 3.8% with a hint of ginger. Perfect if the evenings start to have a chill in the air!
